Why the Nexus Tab Doesn’t Show All 50 States

Learn why your Nexus state list may not match the full list of U.S. states

FAQ: Why isn’t every U.S. state shown in the Nexus tab?

The Nexus tab only shows states and territories where your business has sales tax responsibilities. Here’s why the list might look shorter:

  1. No Sales Tax = Not Listed
States without sales tax (like Oregon, Montana, New Hampshire, Delaware, and Alaska) are excluded.

  2. Only States Where You Have Nexus
If your business doesn’t have a taxable presence (nexus) in a state, it won’t appear.

  3. Includes Washington D.C. and Puerto Rico
These are not states but are included because they require sales tax collection.

Bottom line: The Nexus tab focuses only on where you owe sales tax.
