Managing tax registrations across multiple states can be challenging. This guide walks you through how to easily import your existing registrations into Kintsugi—and what to do if you hit a snag.
How to Import Your Registrations
Go to the Registrations tab in your Kintsugi dashboard.
2. Click the Import button in the upper right corner.
3. Fill in all required fields, then click Save. Your registrations will be imported.
Don’t Know Your Login Credentials?
If you're registered in a state but can’t recall your username or password:
Follow the steps in this article: How to Recover Your Forgotten State Tax Credentials
If the state doesn't issue login credentials, just check the "I don't know my login details" box during import.
We’ll then walk you through the Power of Attorney (POA) process if needed.
Note: POAs are only used as a last resort. Most states offer faster ways to recover your credentials—use those first whenever possible.
Unsure If You're Registered in a State?
No problem. We can help.
If you are unsure whether you are registered in a particular state, we can initiate the registration process for you. If you are already registered, the state will notify us.
Important Notes
If you're registered in a state that isn't flagged as a nexus state, Kintsugi may not automatically detect it.
State tax agencies may send important notices about your account. To avoid penalties or delays:
Set up Kintsugi Mail
Forward all state letters to us—we'll handle the next steps.
Most states will alert you to upcoming filings or issues. We'll work with you to resolve these as needed.
Importing registrations is not available on the Free Plan.
