How Customer IDs Work Between Kintsugi and BigCommerce
When you integrate your BigCommerce store with Kintsugi, customer records sync automatically between both systems.
Customer ID mapping
The Customer ID shown in Kintsugi is the same as the Customer ID from BigCommerce.
This means the ID you see in Kintsugi’s Customer Details view corresponds directly to the “external ID” from BigCommerce.
For example:
In BigCommerce, a customer has ID 13.
After syncing, you’ll see ID: 13 in Kintsugi under Customers → Customer Details.
This ensures a one-to-one match between both platforms for reporting and tracking.
(See attached screenshots for reference: the Customer ID “13” appears in both systems.)
Handling Transactions Uploaded Outside BigCommerce
If you upload sales data into Kintsugi manually (for example, via CSV upload):
Every transaction must include a valid customer ID.
Kintsugi will not assign or create a new customer ID for records without one.
These uploaded transactions do not sync back to BigCommerce — they remain available only within Kintsugi for reporting purposes.
Summary
Action | Result |
Customer created in BigCommerce | ID syncs to Kintsugi automatically |
Customer ID visible in Kintsugi | Same as BigCommerce’s Customer ID |
CSV upload without Customer ID | Not accepted |
CSV upload with valid ID | Stored in Kintsugi only (not sent to BigCommerce) |
Tip
:To ensure smooth syncing and accurate reporting, always maintain consistent customer IDs between your BigCommerce data and any manual uploads to Kintsugi.
