Why does a Kintsugi employee's name appear as officer/CEO on my state registrations

Why a Kintsugi team member's name may appear on your state registration records, and what it means for your business.
Updated yesterday

If you've reviewed your state business registration and noticed an unfamiliar name listed as an officer or contact, such as a Kintsugi employee's name, this article explains why that happens and what it means for your account.

What you might see

When viewing your state registration records, you may notice a name you don't recognize listed in a field like "officer," "registered agent contact," or "account owner." This name belongs to a Kintsugi team member, not to anyone affiliated with your business.

This is not fraud, impersonation, or an error in your officer records. Your actual officers and business information remain accurate and unchanged.

Why this happens

When Kintsugi updates your mailing address to a Kintsugi Mail address on your behalf, our operations team accesses your state account through a third-party portal to make that change.

During this process, the state system automatically prompts for the name of the person making the update, which is a Kintsugi member (e.g., Pujun). Some states record this name and surface it in your registration, associating it with the mailing address update rather than your business's actual officer structure.

This is a byproduct of how certain state systems handle third-party account access. It does not reflect any change to your business's legal officers, ownership, or authority.

What stays the same

Your actual officer information, including the names, titles, and roles of your business's legal officers, is maintained separately in your state registration and is not affected by this process. The name that appears is tied to the mailing address field only, not your core business record.
