When you import an existing Alabama sales tax registration into Kintsugi, you’ll need three specific identifiers issued by the Alabama Department of Revenue. These values appear on the state-generated credentialing letter sent after the business originally registered for a sales tax license.
This guide explains what the letter is, where to find it (physically and inside your MAT portal), and how to identify the required fields on the document.
After the business completes its initial sales tax registration, Alabama issues a credentialing letter that contains the access information for the company’s My Alabama Taxes (MAT) account.
The letter includes three critical data fields needed when importing an existing registration:
Account ID
Sign-on ID
Access Code

You can access the letter in two places:
Alabama mails the credentialing letter to the business address listed on the original registration application.
You can retrieve a digital copy directly from the state portal by following these steps:
Log in to your My Alabama Taxes (MAT) account.
Under the Accounts tab, go to the Correspondence section, then select View/Print Mail from ALDOR.
Open your Inbox to view letters from Alabama DOR. Find and select the letter titled Online Filing Info.
Your Alabama Credentialing Letter will open on-screen.
Copy the Sign-on ID and Access Code from the document.
Securely send these details to your Kintsugi onboarding manager / customer success manager. Refer to this help article for more information: Send a Secure Message to Kintsugi
Each identifier—Account ID, Sign-on ID, and Access Code—is printed directly on the credentialing letter.
These fields are usually grouped together on the first page in a clearly labeled section.
The identifiers must match exactly when entered into the Kintsugi registration import workflow.
If the physical letter is missing and the digital version does not appear in your MAT portal, contact the Alabama Department of Revenue to retrieve your credentials:
Alabama DOR: (334) 242-1490 — press 3 for Sales Tax
A representative can provide guidance or reissue the information as needed.
MAT cannot regenerate these values inside the portal, so the state is the source of truth.
Once you provide the required credentials, Kintsugi will initiate the third-party access request. You do not need to validate or approve the request separately, as Kintsugi will complete this step on your behalf.
Once access is confirmed, Kintsugi can continue with the registration import setup in the app.
