Short answer: Yes. If your dashboard shows a "Filing" status, it means your return is actively being submitted to the tax authority by our Tax Operations team. Your return will be filed before the statutory deadline.
When you see "Filing" in your dashboard, it means:
Your filing has already been reviewed and approved (either by you or through auto-approval)
Our Tax Operations team is actively submitting your return to the state
The submission process is underway, and no action is needed from you
This is a normal, expected step in the process. Think of it like a package that's been handed off to the courier and is already on its way.
The "Filing" status typically appears for a few days while our team processes and submits the return through the state portal. Once the state confirms receipt, the status will update to "Filed / Completed."
The exact timing depends on:
State processing speed. Some states confirm receipt within hours while others take a few business days.
Filing volume. During peak periods (e.g., month-end or quarter-end), it may take slightly longer for all returns to process through.
Yes. Kintsugi's Tax Operations team files all approved returns on or before the statutory deadline. As long as your filing was approved before or on the fifth day of the month, it will be submitted on time.
If your filing was auto-approved on schedule (system auto-approves filings if no action is taken on the fifth day of the month), you are well within the filing window.
Status | What It Means | Action Needed? |
|---|---|---|
In Progress | Your filing is being prepared | None. We're working on it |
Ready to File | Filing is ready for your review | Review before auto-approval |
Filing | Return is being submitted to the state | None. It's on its way |
Filed / Completed | Successfully submitted to the state | None. You're all set! |
You generally don't need to take any action while a filing shows "Filing." However, reach out to our team if:
Your filing has shown "Filing" for more than 5 business days after the deadline has passed
You received a notice from the state saying a return was not received
You need confirmation of a specific filing for your records
