How to Reconnect Your Amazon Integration

Updated 12 days ago

Kintsugi relies on your Amazon connection to keep your marketplace order data up to date. If the connection drops, it's usually a minor issue that can be resolved in just a few steps. This guide explains the most common causes, how to reconnect your Amazon account, and answers frequently asked questions from Amazon sellers.

Why Did My Amazon Integration Disconnect?

A few things commonly cause an Amazon connection to break:

  • Your authorization expired or was revoked. This is a normal part of how Amazon Seller Central connections work over time and doesn't indicate anything wrong with your account.

  • The connection was linked to a personal Amazon account instead of a Seller Central business account. Using a personal account (rather than the proper Seller Central business account with the right permissions) can cause both connection and data issues, for example, orders showing incorrect customer or business names.

  • A specific marketplace lost authorization. This shows up most often on non-US marketplaces (Japan in particular), where the connection can go unauthorized even though the Seller Central login and marketplace location are correct.

How to Reconnect

  1. Go to Settings → Integrations (or Data Sources → Inactive) in Kintsugi, find the Amazon connection marked Invalid or Revoked, and click Reconnect (or use the three-dot menu next to your store and select Reauthorize).

  2. Log in to Amazon Seller Central to re-authorize access. Make sure you're using your proper Seller Central business account, not a personal Amazon account.

  3. If you sell on a non-US marketplace (for example, Japan), fully disconnect the integration first, then reconnect using the correct region-specific Seller Central login. Confirm that the relevant marketplace is active in your Seller Central account and that all requested permissions/scopes are accepted during the reconnect flow.

  4. Once reconnected, the store should appear as Connected in Kintsugi, and syncing should resume.

Reconnecting only refreshes the authorization and doesn't affect your historical data or anything already synced.

If reconnecting doesn't resolve the issue, contact Kintsugi Support.

FAQs

Q: Is it safe to reconnect my Amazon integration?

A: Yes. Reconnecting restores the connection. It won't affect any data that's already been synced or any filings that have already been submitted.

Q: Why did my Amazon connection disconnect if I didn't change anything?

A: The most common causes are a routine authorization expiration or (less commonly) a marketplace-specific authorization issue that isn't caused by anything you did.

Q: My Japan (or other non-US) marketplace keeps losing its connection even after I reconnect. What should I check?

A: This is a known pattern on some non-US marketplaces. Fully disconnect the integration, then reconnect using the correct region-specific Seller Central login, and confirm the relevant marketplace is active and all permissions are accepted during setup. If it keeps recurring after that, contact Kintsugi Support with your marketplace details.

Q: Should I connect with my personal Amazon account or my Seller Central business account?

A: Always use your Seller Central business account. Connecting with a personal account can cause both authorization issues and incorrect data (like orders showing the wrong customer or business name).

Q: Will reconnecting cause duplicate transactions or affect my filings?

A: No. Reconnecting just restores the existing connection; it doesn't reprocess or duplicate historical data.

Q: What if reconnecting doesn't fix my Amazon connection?

A: If the issue persists, contact Kintsugi Support. Some marketplace-related authorization problems require assistance from our team.
