Kintsugi Portfolio is the multi-client workspace in Kintsugi. If your firm manages sales tax compliance for more than one business, Kintsugi Portfolio lets you see nexus exposure, registrations, filings, and pending tasks for every client from a single login instead of switching between accounts.
Kintsugi Portfolio was previously called the Kintsugi Partner Experience. It is the same product with a new name. You sign in at partner.trykintsugi.com, which is a different address from the main Kintsugi app at app.trykintsugi.com.
Kintsugi Portfolio is built for teams that manage compliance on behalf of other businesses:
A portfolio is not the same as a business account. Your firm does not need a Kintsugi organization of its own to run a portfolio. The portfolio sits above your client organizations and exists purely to manage them.
If you run one business with several legal entities, you likely want a multi-entity setup rather than a portfolio. A portfolio carries extra structure, including its own billing arrangement and access model, that a single business managing its own entities does not need. See How Kintsugi Supports Multi-Entity Setup for ERP and Billing Integrations.
| Term | What it means |
|---|---|
| Portfolio | Your firm's workspace. It holds your team members and every client organization you manage. It sits above the client organizations. |
| Client organization | One business you manage compliance for. Each client is a full Kintsugi organization with its own data sources, transactions, registrations, filings, and organization ID. Data never carries over between clients. |
| Team member | A person at your firm who signs in to the portfolio. Team members are granted access to specific client organizations, and one team member is usually assigned as the owner of each client. |
| Client user | A person at your client's business who is invited into that one client organization. They see only their own organization. Client users are optional. Some firms manage everything themselves without ever inviting the client in. |
Kintsugi sets up your portfolio when your firm is onboarded. The usual flow is: Kintsugi creates the portfolio, Kintsugi invites your firm to it, you add your clients, then you invite users to those clients.
Portfolio roles are the same three you already know from a Kintsugi organization.
| Role | Can do |
|---|---|
| Owner | Everything, including managing other Owners and Admins |
| Admin | Add clients, invite team members, grant client access, and act on any client they have access to |
| Member | Day-to-day compliance work on the clients they have access to |
Access to the portfolio is not access to client data. Signing in to the portfolio lets a team member work as part of your firm. It does not automatically show them every client. Access is granted per client organization, so a team member sees only the clients you give them. This matches how most practices work, where staff see only the client files they are assigned to.
For the full role breakdown, see Understanding User Roles in Kintsugi.
Every portfolio has a default billing mode. New client organizations follow that default, and you can override it for any individual client. You manage both under Settings > Billing Settings.
| Billing mode | Who pays Kintsugi | What your clients see |
|---|---|---|
| Partner managed | Your firm. You control all billing decisions for the client. | Clients cannot upgrade or change their plan on their own. Billing and plan settings are hidden in their organization. |
| Client managed | Each client pays Kintsugi directly. | Clients see their own billing settings and invoices. Your firm does not act as the intermediary for payment. |
One portfolio can hold both arrangements. For example, you can bill most clients yourself and let a few pay Kintsugi directly by adding an override for those clients. A billing mode change is sent as a request and shows as Pending until it takes effect. You can cancel a request while it is still pending.
Work you do at the portfolio level is the same work you would do inside an individual client organization. You are simply doing it one level up, across clients, instead of opening each one.
Q: Is Kintsugi Portfolio the same as the Partner Experience?
A: Yes. Partner Experience was renamed Kintsugi Portfolio in 2026. Nothing about your access or data changed.
Q: Does my firm need its own Kintsugi organization?
A: No. A portfolio can manage client organizations without your firm having an organization of its own.
Q: Can my clients see the other clients in my portfolio?
A: No. A client user invited into their organization sees only that organization.
Q: Do my clients have to know we use Kintsugi?
A: No. Inviting client users is optional. Some firms deliver the service entirely themselves and never invite the client in.
Q: Does everyone on my team see every client?
A: No. Access is granted per client organization. A team member sees only the clients you give them access to.
Q: Can some clients pay Kintsugi directly while I bill the rest?
A: Yes. Set your default billing mode, then add an override under Settings > Billing Settings for each client that should be billed differently.
Q: Can one person belong to more than one client organization?
A: Yes. A single email address can be a user in multiple organizations and can also be a portfolio team member.
Q: Is there a limit on how many clients a portfolio can hold?
A: No.
