Documents Required for VAT Registration in Tajikistan

Updated 2 months ago

When registering for VAT in Tajikistan, the documents you will need depend on whether you are a resident business or a non-resident filing under the simplified digital services scheme.

For Resident Businesses (Standard Domestic Registration)

Resident businesses and foreign entities with a permanent establishment register through the Tax Committee. The following documents are typically required:

  • Certificate of incorporation or equivalent formation document.

  • Company charter or articles of association.

  • Taxpayer Identification Number (TIN) issued by the relevant authority in your country of incorporation (for foreign entities with a PE).

  • Proof of business address in Tajikistan (lease agreement, utility bill, or equivalent).

  • Details of the business's legal representative or authorized signatory.

  • Bank account information for tax remittance purposes.

For Non-Resident Businesses (Simplified Digital Services Registration)

Non-resident businesses registering under the simplified e-filing scheme submit their application through the Tax Committee's online portal at secure.andoz.tj. The following information is typically required:

  • Full legal name of the company.

  • Country of incorporation and registered business address.

  • Tax identification number or equivalent from the company's country of incorporation.

  • Description of the electronic services provided to Tajik customers.

  • Contact details for the authorized representative handling VAT compliance.

  • Login credentials for the ITMIS online portal (created during registration).

Note: The Tax Committee may require a non-resident company to appoint a local representative in Tajikistan to act on its behalf. While this is not automatically mandatory, the tax authority holds the right to request one. Check with your tax advisor to confirm whether this applies to your situation.

Key Notes on the Registration Process

  • Registration is processed through the Tax Committee's online system. Physical submission is generally not required for non-resident digital service providers.

  • The Tax Committee has been modernizing its infrastructure with World Bank support. E-filing of VAT returns is now mandatory.

  • There is no pre-clearance step and no option for anonymous filing.

  • A local bank account may be required to settle tax liabilities, depending on the payment method accepted by the Tax Committee for your business type.
