Maine Credentials for Importing Registration

To import your existing Maine sales tax registration into Kintsugi, you'll need to provide a few details issued by the Maine Revenue Services when you registered your business. Maine manages its tax accounts through the Maine Tax Portal (MTP), the state's online portal for filing, paying, and managing business taxes. Once imported, Kintsugi can manage your Maine sales tax filings through AutoPilot.

Required Credentials

When importing an existing Maine sales tax registration into Kintsugi, you'll need the following:

• FEIN

• ME State Tax ID

What's My FEIN?

Your FEIN (Federal Employer Identification Number) is the nine-digit number assigned to your business by the IRS, used to identify your business for federal tax purposes.

Where to find it

You can find your FEIN in any of the following places:

• Your IRS EIN confirmation letter (CP 575). The IRS issues this letter when your EIN is assigned. Your FEIN is printed on this document.

• Your Maine Tax Portal account. Log in at portal.maine.gov/mtp and review your business profile to confirm the FEIN on file.

• Prior tax filings. Your FEIN appears on any federal or state tax returns previously filed for your business.

What's My ME State Tax ID?

Your ME State Tax ID is the 8-digit sales and use tax account number (no dashes) you received from Maine Revenue Services when you registered for your sales tax license.

Where to find it

You can find your ME State Tax ID in any of the following places:

• Your Maine Sales Tax License. Maine Revenue Services issues a sales tax license upon registration. Your 8-digit account number is printed on this document.

• Your Maine Tax Portal account. Log in at portal.maine.gov/mtp and navigate to your sales and use tax account summary to locate your account number.

• Maine Revenue Services correspondence. Any notices or letters from Maine Revenue Services may include your State Tax ID.

⚠️ Important: Your ME State Tax ID must be entered as 8 digits with no dashes.

Next Step

Once you provide the required credentials, Kintsugi will initiate the third-party access request. You do not need to validate or approve the request separately, as Kintsugi will complete this step on your behalf.

Once access is confirmed, Kintsugi can continue with the registration import setup in the app.
