Your Sales Tax ID is a unique number issued by a state or local tax authority once your business has successfully registered to collect sales tax. Kintsugi stores these IDs as part of your registration records, ensuring they are automatically included in your tax filings and remittances.
Knowing where to find these IDs is useful for internal audits, verifying your status on state websites, or when integrating new sales channels.
To view the Sales Tax ID for a specific state or jurisdiction, follow the steps below:
Log in to your Kintsugi account.
Navigate to the Registrations tab on the left-hand sidebar menu.
On the Registrations page, you will see a list of all states where you have active or pending tax registrations.
Find the state you are interested in and click it.
A window will open on the right side with the Registration Details for that particular jurisdiction or state.
Scroll down and look for FEIN/Tax ID. If the registration is complete, your unique ID will be displayed there. The sales tax ID is a series of numbers, typically between 9 and 12 digits, depending on the state. It may come in any of these formats XXXXXXXXX; XXXX-XXXX; or XX-XXXXXX.
If you see a state listed but the Tax ID field is empty, it is likely due to one of the following reasons:
Registration in Progress: Kintsugi is still processing your application with the state. Once the state issues your ID, it will be automatically updated in the dashboard.
Manual Update Required: If you registered for a state independently (outside of Kintsugi), you may need to manually input the ID or upload your certificate so Kintsugi can verify and store it.
Pending Verification: The state may have issued the ID, but Kintsugi's system is awaiting the official physical or digital certificate to confirm the details.
