Enabling “Using Business Address for Missing Addresses” in the Kintsugi App

Maintain tax calculation continuity when customer address data is unavailable
Updated 4 months ago

Overview

The Using Business Address for Missing Addresses setting allows Kintsugi to handle transactions with blank address data more reliably. When this setting is enabled, Kintsugi may default to your organization’s business address for qualifying transactions if the ship-to or bill-to address is missing.

This configuration is designed to reduce tax calculation interruptions caused by fully blank address inputs while maintaining strict rules around when address substitution is permitted.

When this Setting is Required

This feature only functions if it is explicitly enabled in the Kintsugi app. Once enabled, it can help if:

  • Transactions originate from your business location

  • Customer ship-to or bill-to address information is entirely missing

  • You want to avoid failed or blocked tax calculations due to blank address data

How to Enable Using Business Address for Missing Addresses

To activate this behavior:

  1. Log in to your Kintsugi account.

The setting takes effect immediately after it is enabled.

When Your Business Address is Applied

Kintsugi applies your organization’s business address only when all of the following conditions are met:

  • The setting is enabled in the app.

  • The transaction’s country matches your organization’s business country.

  • All ship-to and bill-to address fields are completely blank.

If any address field is partially populated (for example, a country or postal code is present), Kintsugi will not substitute the business address.

If the transaction country does not match the business country, the business address is not used under any circumstances.

What to Expect after Enabling

  • Transactions with fully missing address data may continue to process

  • Tax calculations remain consistent for eligible business-originated transactions

  • Address substitution follows strict guardrails to avoid incorrect location assumptions

Important Considerations

  • This setting does not override partially provided address data

  • Ensure your organization’s business address is accurate and up to date, as it may be used for qualifying transactions

  • The feature applies only to transactions originating from your business location
