Documents Required for Business Registration in Mexico

Updated 4 months ago

To register your business for tax compliance in Mexico, you must provide specific documentation to verify your identity, residency, and legal business standing. These requirements ensure your account meets local regulatory standards for tax automation.

1. Primary Identity Verification

One valid government-issued photo ID is required to verify your identity. Any of the following will do:

  • Passport

  • Photocard Driving License

  • National Identity Card

2. Supporting Evidence

In addition to the primary ID, you must provide two additional pieces of evidence to verify your address or legal status. You may submit copies of any two of the following:

  • Birth Certificate

  • Utility Bill: Must be recently issued (within the last 3 months).

  • Lease or Rental Agreement: A signed legal contract for your residence or office.

  • Mortgage Statement: A recent statement from your lender.

  • Work Permit or Visa: Valid documentation of your right to work or reside.

  • Official Correspondence: Any letter from the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) confirming entitlement to benefits.

3. Business & Tax Documentation

To finalize the registration of your entity in Mexico, the following legal documents are required:

  • IRS Letter CP 575: This is required to verify your Employer Identification Number (EIN) if your entity has U.S. affiliations.

  • Letter of Incorporation: The legal document (Articles of Incorporation) that proves the formation of your company.

Preparation Tips

  • Clarity: Ensure all scans or photos are clear and that all four corners of the document are visible.

  • Consistency: The name on your identity documents should match the name provided in your Kintsugi and Stripe profiles.

  • File Format: We recommend uploading documents as PDFs or high-resolution JPEGs.
