Understanding how Tajikistan's tax jurisdiction is structured is the first step to getting your VAT setup right. The good news: it's straightforward.
VAT in Tajikistan is applied entirely at the federal level. There are no regional, city, or local VAT jurisdictions. This means that a single registration with the Tax Committee covers all of your taxable activity across the country.
Jurisdiction Level | Status |
|---|---|
Federal (National) | ✅ Active — VAT is collected here |
Regional / Provincial | ❌ Not applicable |
City / Local | ❌ Not applicable |
Because VAT is applied at the federal level, Kintsugi requires that the country field on a transaction be set to "Tajikistan" for the transaction to be recognized as subject to Tajikistan VAT. No regional or city-level data is required for taxability determination.
Field | Format |
|---|---|
Street | Apartment No., Street Name |
Postal Code | 6 digits |
City | City name |
Country | TAJIKISTAN |
Example Address: Apt 12, Street 61 734012, Dushanbe TAJIKISTAN
Businesses registered for VAT in Tajikistan are assigned a Taxpayer Identification Number (TIN), known locally as "РМА" (Рақами мушаххаси андозсупоранда). This 9-digit number serves as the VAT ID for all VAT-related purposes.
Format: NNNNNNNNN (9 digits)
Tip: When Kintsugi identifies a customer as a B2B buyer, it looks for a valid VAT ID (TIN). If one is provided, the transaction is treated as B2B and the reverse charge mechanism may apply. If no VAT ID is provided, the transaction defaults to B2C, and VAT must be charged by the seller.
