Kintsugi (powered by Vertex) now supports a tax engine integration with NetSuite. This integration syncs your NetSuite transaction data into Kintsugi, supporting both Legacy Tax and SuiteTax environments.
⚠️ Premium Plan Required
The NetSuite Tax Engine Integration (Kintsugi Powered by Vertex) is only available on the Premium plan. Accounts on the Starter plan will not see the Enable Tax Collection option and cannot activate the Vertex integration. Please ensure the account is upgraded to Premium to be eligible to proceed with the setup.
Go to Setup > Company > Company Information.
Scroll to locate your Account ID then copy it.

To grant access to the Netsuite, you need to create a user role to get Access Tokens using Token-Based Authentication
Go to Setup > Users/Roles > Manage Roles > New
Name the role (e.g. Kintsugi Role).
Under the 'Permissions' tab, select the appropriate permissions for the role. The role needs the necessary permissions to perform the integration tasks.
For Tax Engine Integration, follow the permission setup below:
Update: If you have already set up the permissions above, please include the following new permissions by editing the role setup earlier.
Toggle "Permissions" if it is not expanded.
Navigate to Setup > Users/Roles > select Manage Roles > Edit the role set up during initial install.
Expand Setup () and add Set Up Company with "View" access.
Expand Custom Record () and add STE Tax Exemption Certificate.
Select "Save" to apply the changes.
Go to Setup > Integrations > Manage Integrations > New
Complete the Integration information.
Name: Enter a proper name (for example, Kintsugi App)
Authentication: Under the 'Authentication' section,
Select 'Token-Based Authentication.'
For TBA: Authorization flow set https://unify.apideck.com/vault/callback as callback URL.
Oauth 2.0: Under the 'Oauth 2.0**' section
Check "Authorization Code grant"
Check "REST API services"
Set https://unify.apideck.com/vault/callback as the redirect URL
Click the 'Save' button to save the changes.
Once saved, the Consumer Key and Consumer Secret will be generated.

Navigate to the NetSuite tile.
Click "Enable Tax Collection"

Accept the Vertex Terms and Conditions then click "Confirm."

Once confirmed, your Company Code, Client ID, and Secret Key will be generated.
Copy these for later use when installing Vertex in NetSuite, or return to this window anytime to copy them as needed.

TIP: You can click the blue “See detailed steps” link to access a quick slide deck guide. The prompts on the right side of the screen will walk you through the next steps.
NetSuite does not provide a direct link to the Vertex SuiteApp. You must manually search and install.
In NetSuite:
Type in the search bar Vertex and select "Vertex O Series for NetSuite (SuiteTax)"

Open the SuiteApp by clicking "View SuiteApp"

Click “Install” to set up all the bundles included.

After installation:
Navigate to Vertex tab > Configuration > Company General Preferences > Custom Preferences

Paste the Client ID generated earlier into “Token Client ID” and the Secret Key into “Token Client Secret.”

Save the configuration.
Return to Kintsugi and click "Mark as Installed"

Kintsugi then begins syncing:
Existing Nexuses
Registrations
Product
Note: You must complete all the product classification (updating category and subcategory) for full tax accuracy.
After activation, you can calculate tax directly within NetSuite invoices via Vertex.
In your NetSuite account, go to Transactions > Create Invoice.
Add a sample customer (recommended: one with a taxable address)
Add one or more line items.
Click "Preview Tax" to trigger Vertex.
Tax lines display under Tax Details.
Click Accept Payment to complete the invoice.
Return to your Kintsugi app > go to Transactions tab.
Confirm the sample invoice appears in your transactions list—showing that the sync is working correctly.
Adding new items clears the tax calculation; you must re-run "Preview Tax".
Items and addresses determine which Nexus applies.
Saving the invoice sends the transaction to Kintsugi on the next 15-minute sync cycle.
