Indiana Credentials for Importing Registration

How to locate the state-issued credentials required for importing your Indiana registration.
Updated 2 days ago

To import your existing Indiana sales tax registration into Kintsugi, you'll need to provide a few details issued by the Indiana Department of Revenue (DOR) when you registered your business. Indiana manages its tax accounts through the Indiana Taxpayer Information Management Engine (INTIME), the state's online portal for filing, paying, and managing business taxes. Once imported, Kintsugi can manage your Indiana sales tax filings through AutoPilot.

Required Credentials

When importing an existing Indiana sales tax registration into Kintsugi, you'll need the following:

  • State Registered Business Name

  • FEIN

What's My State Registered Business Name?

Your State Registered Business Name is the legal business name you provided to the state when you registered for your sales tax license.

Where to find it

You can find your registered business name in any of the following places:

  • Your Indiana Retail Merchant Certificate. The business name appears on the certificate you receive from the Indiana DOR after registration.

  • Your INTIME account. Log in to your Indiana INTIME account at intime.dor.in.gov and review your business profile or account information to confirm the name on file.

  • Indiana DOR correspondence. Any notices, letters, or account-related communications from the Indiana Department of Revenue will reference your registered business name.

What's My FEIN

Your FEIN is the nine-digit number issued by the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) to identify your business for federal tax purposes. This is usually formatted as XX-XXXXXXX (e.g., 12-3456789).

The Indiana Department of Revenue’s Business Tax Application checklist says a Federal ID Number (FID/EIN) is needed to complete the online BT-1 Business Tax Application, and businesses that need one must obtain it from the IRS.

Where to find it

You can find your FEIN in any of the following places:

  • Indiana registration paperwork (Look for this number under labels such as Federal ID Number, FID/EIN, FEIN, or Federal Tax ID Number).

  • Your IRS EIN confirmation notice

  • Prior federal business tax returns

  • Business bank account records

  • State or local license applications where you previously used the number

  • Agencies where you applied for business licenses or permits

Next Step

Once you provide the required credentials, Kintsugi will initiate the third-party access request. You do not need to validate or approve the request separately, as Kintsugi will complete this step on your behalf.

Once access is confirmed, Kintsugi can continue with the registration import setup in the app.
