Hyperline Read-Only Integration Guide

Connecting Hyperline to Kintsugi
Updated 16 hours ago

This guide walks you through connecting your Hyperline account to Kintsugi using a read-only integration. Once connected, Kintsugi automatically syncs your Hyperline customers, products, invoices, and credit notes so you can monitor your sales tax exposure and keep your compliance on track.

What is a read-only integration?

A read-only integration allows Kintsugi to pull data from Hyperline without making any changes to your Hyperline invoices. Your data stays safe, and Kintsugi handles the rest.

Before You Begin

Make sure you have the following before starting:

  • A Hyperline login with access to the invoicing entity you want to connect

  • An active Kintsugi account

  • One Hyperline invoicing entity per connection. If your Hyperline account has more than one invoicing entity, create a separate connection for each one.

There is nothing to install in Hyperline. You set everything up from Kintsugi.

Step 1: Searching for Hyperline in Kintsugi

  1. After logging in to your Kintsugi account, click Data Sources in the left navigation menu.

Step 3: Allow Kintsugi Access in Hyperline

Hyperline opens an Authorize App screen. Sign in if Hyperline asks you to, review the access Kintsugi is requesting, then click Accept.

Step 4: Choose Your Invoicing Entity and Start Date

You return to Kintsugi, and the Connect Hyperline window opens.

  1. Under Invoicing entity, select the Hyperline invoicing entity you want to sync. Kintsugi imports data for this entity only.

  2. Optional: under Transaction sync start date, pick the date Kintsugi should start importing from. Invoices and credit notes dated before it are skipped. Leave it blank to import all available history. Your customers and products always import in full.

  3. Click Connect.

Have more than one invoicing entity? One Kintsugi connection maps to one Hyperline invoicing entity. To sync another entity, repeat this guide and choose the other entity. To switch an existing connection to a different entity, turn off the current connection and create a new one.

Step 5: Wait for the Initial Sync to Complete

You return to Data Sources. During the initial sync, the Hyperline card shows Syncing.

Once the sync is complete, the card shows the Hyperline logo with your invoicing entity's name and a Read-only status, along with your First Transaction and Latest Transaction dates. Your Hyperline data is now live in Kintsugi.

After the first sync, Kintsugi keeps your data up to date by importing only new and changed records.

What Syncs from Hyperline

Kintsugi reads these records from Hyperline and keeps them up to date.

Customer tax exemptions: customers marked as tax exempt in Hyperline are imported as exempt customers in Kintsugi. Marking only an individual invoice as exempt does not create an exemption in Kintsugi.

Customer addresses: Kintsugi uses the customer's billing address from Hyperline to determine where tax applies. Shipping addresses are not imported.

Tax amounts: Kintsugi imports the tax already shown on your Hyperline invoices and treats invoice amounts as tax exclusive. Line amounts are imported after discounts.

Not imported: payments and transactions, subscriptions and plans, wallets, billable events, and customer shipping addresses. Amounts from subscriptions and usage still reach Kintsugi through the invoices and credit notes they generate.

How Hyperline invoice statuses appear in Kintsugi

Kintsugi sets each transaction's status from the Hyperline invoice status. Paid and partly paid invoices are recognized from the invoice status alone, so you do not need to sync payments separately.

Step 6: Complete Your Setup

After the initial sync, you may see pending tasks on your Kintsugi Dashboard that need your attention.

A. Review Product Categories

New or uncategorized products need review to make sure tax is calculated correctly. Kintsugi Intelligence suggests categories and subcategories for each product. For detailed instructions, see Updating Product Category and Subcategory.

B. Update Invalid and Blank Addresses

Kintsugi flags invalid and blank customer addresses, because accurate addresses are essential for correct tax calculations. See How to Update Invalid Addresses in the Kintsugi App and How to Update Blank Addresses in the Kintsugi App.

C. Review Tax Exemptions

Check that customers marked as tax exempt in Hyperline appear as exempt in Kintsugi. Add exemptions in Kintsugi for any other customers who should not be charged sales tax.

Managing an Inactive Connection

When your Hyperline connection is disconnected or becomes inactive, syncing stops and the data you've already imported stays in Kintsugi. The card moves to the Inactive tab under Data Sources > Manage Integrations. Open the menu (⋮) on the card to choose what to do next:

Option

What it does

Re-authorize

Signs you in to Hyperline again to renew Kintsugi's access. You keep the same connection and invoicing entity, and you are not asked to choose an entity again.

Activate

Turns syncing back on. The sync picks up where it left off, without importing your history again.

Archive

Archives the connection when you no longer plan to use it.

FAQs

Q: Will Kintsugi change anything in Hyperline?

A: No. A read-only connection only reads your data. Kintsugi writes tax to Hyperline invoices only if you turn on tax calculation.

Q: Can I connect more than one Hyperline invoicing entity?

A: Yes. Each connection covers one invoicing entity, so create one connection per entity.

Q: Why don't I see some invoices in Kintsugi?

A: Check that the invoices are dated on or after the transaction sync start date you chose in Step 4, and that they belong to the invoicing entity you connected.

Q: Why is a paid invoice showing as Committed instead of paid?

A: Kintsugi does not import Hyperline payments. It reads the invoice status instead, and paid or partly paid invoices are treated as Committed sales.

Q: How long does the initial sync take?

A: This depends on how much history is in your Hyperline account. Larger accounts may take a little longer to complete their first sync.

Q: How do I disconnect Hyperline?

A: In Data Sources, open the menu (⋮) on the Hyperline card and choose Disconnect. Syncing stops, and the data you've already imported stays in Kintsugi.

Q: My Hyperline connection stopped syncing. What should I do?

A: Find the Hyperline card on the Inactive tab under Data Sources > Manage Integrations and open its menu (⋮). Choose Re-authorize if Kintsugi's access to Hyperline was removed or expired, or Activate if the connection was turned off. If syncing still does not resume, reach out to our support team.

Looking to Enable Tax Calculation?

This read-only integration supports data sync and reporting only. To have Kintsugi calculate sales tax on your Hyperline invoices, see the Hyperline Tax Engine Integration Guide to configure Kintsugi as your tax engine.
