How to Retrieve Your Forgotten State Tax Credentials in the Kintsugi App

How to Retrieve Updated Credentials for a State
Updated 22 days ago

Forgot the login for one of your state tax accounts? If you're an Owner on your Kintsugi account, you can view it yourself in under a minute! No need to wait on support.

Who can view credentials? To keep your state tax logins secure, only the Owner role can retrieve and view credentials in plain text. Admin and Member roles can always see credentials but in encrypted form, even after clicking the eye icon — this is expected behavior, not a bug.

Step-by-Step Instructions

  1. Log in to the Kintsugi app.

  2. On the left-hand menu, click “Registrations.”

  3. Find the state you're looking for in the list and click its row.

  1. A panel will open with your Registration Details. Locate the Credentials section and click the eye icon to reveal them.

  1. The eye icon will change to a crossed-out eye, and your Username and Password will be visible.

Tips

  • Upon seeing your credentials, this is also a good moment to confirm with our team if they're still correct, especially if you haven't logged into that state's portal in a while.

  • Our team updates these credentials showing in the app once the password has been changed from the state portal.

  • If the credentials do not work, reach out to support for further assistance.

I'm Not the Owner, What Do I Do?

You have two quick options:

  • Ask your account's Owner to retrieve the credentials for you and share them securely.

  • Contact Kintsugi support — our team can help route your request appropriately.
