How to Pause a Filing to Prevent Auto-Approval

Updated yesterday

This guide explains how to use the "Pause" feature for your filings. Pausing a filing gives you more time to review or make corrections, and prevents it from being automatically approved and locked.

What is the "Pause" Feature?

The "Pause" feature allows you to temporarily halt a filing's approval process. When a filing is paused, it will not be automatically approved, giving you control over when it re-enters the approval flow.

Key aspects of this feature include:

  1. Pause Action
A new "Pause" option is available in the kebab menu (...) for each filing.

  2. "Paused" Status
Filings you pause will display a "Paused" status.

  3. Guided Modal
When you pause, a pop-up window will ask for a reason, comments, and a resume date.

  4. Clear Timelines
Filings are typically auto-approved on the 5th of the month. You can set a resume date up to the 15th of the current month.

When to use Pause

Use the "Pause" feature if you need additional time to review or fix details in a filing and want to prevent it from being automatically approved (and locked).

How to Pause a Filing

Follow these simple steps to pause a filing:

  1. Go to Filings tab

    1. Locate: Navigate to the "Filing" page and locate the specific filing you wish to hold.

    2. Access the Menu: Click the kebab menu (...) next to the filing.

    3. Select Pause: Choose the "Pause" option from the menu.

  2. Adding Information

    1. Complete the required information in the pop-up window:

      1. Reason for Pause Filing
Select why you are pausing the filing.

      2. Approve Filing Date
Select a date for the filing to resume processing. You can choose any date up to the 15th of the current month

ℹ️ The includes an info icon next to it explaining what the date means and how it affects processing.

    2. Save to proceed
      To submit, click "Save."

  3. Pause Filing Confirmation

    1. A success message will appear.

    2. The filing's status will change to "Paused."

What Happens When a Filing is Paused?

While a filing is in "Paused" status:

  • Its status will clearly show as Paused.

  • It will not be auto-approved and therefore won't lock until it's resumed and approved.

  • You can set a resume date, allowing the filing to automatically re-enter the normal approval flow after that date.

Important Timelines & Limits

  • Pause Availability: You can pause a filing until the 5th of the month.

  • Auto-Approval: Unfiled filings are automatically approved on the 5th of the month to ensure timely processing.

  • Resume Date Window: You can select a resume date up to the 15th of the current month.

Filing is Locked

Unless a filing is explicitly paused, it will be automatically processed and its status will display as "Processing." If you hover over the "Processing" status, more details will appear.

“This filing is locked and in progress. No further changes can be made.”

This indicates that a specific filing is currently undergoing the filing process: has been submitted and is awaiting approval or further action. This locked status is typically implemented to prevent any modifications or deletions to the filing once it has entered a critical stage, ensuring data integrity and compliance with procedural requirements.

Also, when a filing is locked, this means that new transactions will be counted in the next filing period.

First‑time guidance (new users)

New users will see a one‑time pop‑up explaining that:

  • Filings remain on the Filing page until the end of the filing month.

  • After that, they move to Filing history.

FAQs

  • What if I change my mind after pausing?

Open the same filing. If Pause is still available, adjust the resume date in the modal (or proceed with your usual review/approval steps once ready).

  • Why can’t I pause past the 5th?

To keep returns on schedule, pausing is only available until the 5th. After that, filings move toward auto‑approval and processing.

  • Why can’t I pick a later resume date?

For timely processing, the resume date is limited to the 15th of the current month.
