When importing an existing Illinois sales tax registration into Kintsugi, there are several required pieces of information from you. This guide lists all the credentials you need to provide to Kintsugi to ensure a fast, smooth process.
To integrate your Illinois tax account, you will need to provide the following information:
Registration Type: Sales and Use Tax
State Registered Business Name: The legal name of your business as registered with the Illinois Department of Revenue.
Illinois Account ID: Your specific tax account identifier (see instructions below on how to find this).
Last Payment Amount: The exact amount of the most recent tax payment made to the state.
First Name and Last Name: The primary contact person for the tax account.
Business Phone Number: The phone number associated with your state tax registration.
First Filing Period: The start date of your first return (e.g., the month and year).
Account Zip Code: The 5-digit zip code of the primary business location registered with the state.
Your Illinois Account ID is assigned by the Illinois Department of Revenue (IDOR) once your business registration is processed.
You can find this ID easily by following these steps:
Log in to MyTax Illinois: Go to mytax.illinois.gov and enter your username and password.
View Your Dashboard: Once logged in, your Account ID is prominently displayed on the Summary page (the main dashboard).
Locate the Account Panel: Look for the panel labeled Sales/Use Tax. Your Account ID will be listed directly next to or just below the account type description. It typically follows a format of 8 digits (e.g., XXXX-XXXX).
Alternative Method (Correspondence): If you cannot access the portal, your Account ID is also printed on your Certificate of Registration or any official notice (like a Notice of Tax Due) sent to you by the Illinois Department of Revenue.
Note: If you have just registered your business, it may take 1-2 business days for your Account ID to appear in the MyTax Illinois portal.
Once you've located your credentials, you may also need to grant Kintsugi access to your Illinois tax account. Check out Enabling Third-Party Access in Illinois for step-by-step instructions.
