Enabling Third-Party Access in Virginia

This guide walks you through the steps to enable third-party access to your Virginia Department of Taxation (VATAX) account. This permission must be active before Kintsugi can securely connect to your account and complete the required registration and data import.

Step 1: Access your VATAX account

1. Go to VATAX Portal

2. Enter your credentials and click “Log In.”

Step 2: Manage your account

1. Look for the "Manage Your Account" section.

2. Click on "Assign a Tax Preparer."

Step 3: Fill in the “Assign a Tax Preparer” page

1. Write KintsugiVA for Unique ID.

2. For the level of permission, select “Master.”

3. Click the “Assign” button.

Step 4: Kintsugi will receive a confirmation of the request

Step 5: Log out of your account

1. Click “Logout” on the left side of the menu.
