What Each Plan Adds

  • Free: Exposure monitoring, threshold alerts, product categorization, address validation, Kin (your AI sales tax assistant), and no-code integrations.

  • Starter: Everything in Free, plus registrations, filings, and remittance in the US and Canada, charged one action at a time.

  • Scale: Everything in Starter, with your compliance work covered by one flat monthly price. Scale also covers the EU, the UK, and the other countries you sell in, and our team handles more of the operational work for you.

  • Premium: Everything in Scale, plus our most advanced features: Voluntary Disclosure Agreements (VDAs), advanced exemption certificate management, API and SDK access, single sign-on (SSO), and advanced analytics.

For the complete list of what is included on each plan, see the pricing page.

Which Plan Is Right for You?

  • You are still exploring, or not sure where you owe: Start on Free. Connect your data and Kintsugi shows your exposure in minutes, at no cost.

  • You need to register or file in a few US states or Canadian provinces: Starter lets you pay only for the actions you use, and you can upgrade from Free yourself in the app.

  • You file in many places or sell outside the US and Canada: Scale gives you one flat monthly price, so your costs stay predictable as your filings grow.

  • You owe back taxes from periods you never registered for, or you need API access, SSO, or advanced exemption certificate management: Premium adds VDAs and our most advanced tools.

Tip: Not sure which one fits? Select Talk to Sales in the app or on the pricing page.

Our team compares the options against your actual filings and the countries you sell in.

How Billing Works on Each Plan

Plan

How you are billed

When you are charged

Free

Not billed. No payment method is needed.

Never

Starter

Per action. Each completed action counts as one billable event.

After the billing period ends. Actions completed this month appear on your next invoice.

Scale

One flat monthly subscription, based on the plan you set up with our team

In advance, at the start of each month

Premium

One flat monthly subscription, based on the plan you set up with our team

In advance, at the start of each month. If you activate Premium through checkout in the app, your first payment is taken at checkout.

Why your Starter invoice can show $0.00: Actions are charged after the period they were completed in. If your latest invoice shows $0.00, the actions you completed recently are queued for your next invoice.

You can check your current plan and charges anytime under Configuration > Billing Details. Billing information is visible to Admins and Owners only. See Understanding User Roles in Kintsugi.

How You Can Pay

You can pay for any paid plan by credit or debit card, or by Direct Debit (ACH) from a U.S. bank account. You choose your method at checkout, and you can switch later under Configuration > Billing Details. The Free plan does not need a payment method. For details, see Payment Methods for Your Kintsugi Subscription: Card and Direct Debit (ACH).

These payment details are for your Kintsugi subscription only. They are separate from the bank details used to remit sales tax to tax authorities, which you enter under Configuration > Bank Details. See Setting Up Sales Tax Payment for Filings and Registration.

What This Means for Existing Customers

  • Your plan and price stay the same. Nothing is moved automatically, and you do not need to take any action.

  • Starter now covers Canada. If you are on Starter (previously called Growth), you can register and file in Canada as well as the US, at the same per-action price.

  • You can switch whenever it makes sense. If Scale looks like a better fit for your filing volume or the countries you sell in, select Talk to Sales in the app or reach out through chat, and our team will review it with you and handle the change.

How to Change Your Plan

  • Free to Starter (self-serve): Go to Configuration > Billing Details, select Upgrade on the Current Subscription Plan card, and complete checkout. The change takes effect right away.

  • Moving to Scale or Premium: Select Talk to Sales in the same window, or use the contact options on the pricing page. Our team builds your plan around the countries you need and your volume, then walks you through activating it.

  • Downgrading or canceling: Our team handles these so your open filings are not disrupted. Reach out through chat to get started.
