Payment Methods for Your Kintsugi Subscription: Card and Direct Debit (ACH)

Compare the two ways to pay for your Kintsugi subscription, card and Direct Debit (ACH), and see how billing works with each.
Updated yesterday

You can pay for your Kintsugi subscription in two ways: by card (credit or debit) or by Direct Debit (ACH) from a U.S. bank account. Both are set up once and then charged automatically, so you never need to send a payment manually. This guide compares the two, explains how billing works with each, and shows where to set them up.

This article is about paying for Kintsugi, not about paying your sales tax. The payment method you add here is used only for your Kintsugi subscription. Sales tax that Kintsugi remits to states on your behalf uses the bank account under Configuration > Bank Details. See Setting Up Sales Tax Payment for Filings and Registration.

Debit card or Direct Debit? A debit card is a card payment, so it follows the card column. Direct Debit is a separate option that pulls directly from your bank account, and in the app it appears as Direct Debit next to Credit card.

How billing works

Whichever method you choose, you set it up once. After that, Kintsugi charges it automatically for each billing period until you change it. You do not need to approve or send each payment.

What you are charged, and when, depends on your plan:

Never send card numbers, bank account numbers, or routing numbers by email or chat. You always enter your payment details yourself, in the app or through your own bank's login.

If a payment does not go through

  1. Go to Configuration > Billing Details > Payment Method and check that your card is current or your bank account is still connected.

  2. If your card expired or changed, add the new card. If you use Direct Debit, make sure the connected account has enough funds and still allows ACH debits.

  3. Contact Support after updating your payment method. We can retry the payment for you if needed.

FAQs

Q: Do I need to pay manually every month?
A: No. Once your card or bank account is set up, each payment is collected automatically on your billing date.

Q: Can I switch between card and Direct Debit later?
A: Yes. Go to Configuration > Billing Details, select Edit on the Payment Method card, then Add New. Switching does not change your plan, pricing, or billing schedule.

Q: I do not see Direct Debit as an option.
A: Direct Debit is available for U.S. bank accounts. If you are paying from a U.S. account and still do not see it, contact Support.

Q: My business is outside the U.S. How can I pay?
A: Pay by credit or debit card. Direct Debit (ACH) only works with U.S. bank accounts.

Q: Can I pay by wire transfer?
A: Kintsugi subscriptions are paid by card or Direct Debit, not by wire. If wire is the only option available to your business, contact Support so we can look at your situation.

Q: How do I stop ACH debits?
A: Your Direct Debit authorization stays in effect until you revoke it. To revoke it, contact us through the chat in the bottom right corner of your screen or call +1 415 840 8847.

Q: Is this the same bank account Kintsugi uses to pay my sales tax?
A: No. The account under Configuration > Bank Details is used only to remit sales tax to states. Your Kintsugi payment method is set up separately under Configuration > Billing Details. You can use the same bank account for both, but you add it in each place.
