California Credentials for Importing Registration

How to locate the state-issued credentials required for importing your California registration.
Updated 15 days ago

To import your existing California sales tax registration into Kintsugi, you'll need to provide a few details issued by the California Department of Tax and Fee Administration (CDTFA) when you registered your business. Once imported, Kintsugi can manage your California sales tax filings.

Required Credentials

When importing an existing California sales tax registration into Kintsugi, you'll need the following:

  • Registered Business Name

  • Sales Tax ID

What's My Registered Business Name?

Your Registered Business Name is the official legal business name you provided to the state when you registered for your sales tax permit or seller's permit.

Where to find it

It should be listed on your sales tax registration paperwork. Here are the different ways to find it:

  • Your California Seller's Permit. The business name appears on the seller's permit issued to you by the CDTFA after registration.

  • Your CDTFA correspondence. Any notices, letters, or account-related communications from the CDTFA will reference your registered business name.

  • CDTFA Online Services. Log in to your CDTFA account at cdtfa.ca.gov and review your business profile or account information to confirm the name on file.

What's My Sales Tax ID?

Your Sales Tax ID is the account number issued to you by the CDTFA when you registered for your California seller's permit. It is the primary identifier for your California sales tax account.

Where to find it

You can find your Sales Tax ID in any of the following places:

  • Your California Seller's Permit. The Sales Tax ID is printed on the seller's permit issued to you by the CDTFA after registration.

  • Your CDTFA correspondence. Any notices, letters, or account-related communications from the CDTFA may include your Sales Tax ID.

  • CDTFA Online Services. Log in to your CDTFA account at cdtfa.ca.gov and review your account details or business profile to locate your Sales Tax ID.

Need to Grant Account Access?

Once you've located your credentials, you may also need to grant Kintsugi access to your California tax account. See Enabling Third-Party Access in California for step-by-step instructions.
