Where to See Your Filed Amounts

Learn where to see your filed amounts in Kintsugi. Use the Filings filter or Filing History to view period, tax, and remittance details for filed liabilities.
Updated 6 days ago

Look up any completed filing in Kintsugi, see exactly what was remitted, and find the confirmation details for your records.

Once Kintsugi files a return for you, the record stays in your account. This article shows you where to find a past filing, how to read the amounts on it, and how to pull the confirmation details you need for your books or for an auditor.

Start on the Filing History tab

Navigation path: Log in to Kintsugi > Filings > Filing History

The Filings page is split into three tabs. Picking the right one is most of the job.

Tab

What lives here

Statuses you will see

Current Filings

Filings for the period that is open right now. This is where you land by default.

Unfiled, Filing, Paused, Issue

Back Filings

Returns for periods that have already closed, either ones you requested from that tab or ones we flagged during a state portal review. Still awaiting approval or in progress.

Unfiled, Filing, Paused, Issue

Filing History

Everything that is finished. This is where your filed amounts live.

Filed, Skipped, Cancelled

The Filings page. Region and jurisdiction dropdowns sit at the top left; the Filters icon and Export button sit at the top right.

A filed return is finished work, so it moves out of Current Filings and into Filing History. If you land on the Filings page and do not see the period you are looking for, that is expected. Click Filing History.

Filing History lists everything that is finished, with Filed, Skipped, and Cancelled statuses.

Good to know: There is no separate status dropdown at the top of the page anymore. The three tabs do that job.

Find the period you need

Each row is one filing: one jurisdiction, one period. Three controls narrow the list quickly.

Region and Jurisdiction

The two dropdowns in the top left filter by country and by state or region. They only list places where you hold an active registration, so you are not scrolling past jurisdictions you do not file in.

Period

The Period column shows the period the way states write it, such as March 2026, Q1 2026, H1 2026, or 2026. Hover over it to see the exact start and end dates behind it.

TIP: Hover over the Period value to reveal the exact start and end dates.

Date range and status

Click the Filters icon in the top right to set a custom start and end date, or to narrow to a single status. All seven statuses are available here: Filed, Unfiled, Filing, Issue, Paused, Skipped, and Cancelled. Click Apply when you are done.

The Filters panel: narrow by status, by date range, or both.

Your column preferences are saved between sessions. Adjust them once using the column control at the right of the header row and they will be there the next time you log in.

Open a filing to see the full breakdown

Click anywhere on a row to open the detail sidebar. It has four sections:

Section

What it shows you

Period Overview

Jurisdiction, due date, period, transaction count, and transaction amount. This is the "what was covered" summary.

Tax Overview

Calculated tax, adjustments, fees, penalties, discounts, credits applied, and total liability. Start here when a number is not what you expected.

Remittance Overview

Tax remitted, return confirmation ID, and payment confirmation ID. These are the fields to quote if you need to show a state that a return was submitted.

Attachments

Any documents saved against that filing.

If you are reconciling and the totals do not line up with your ecommerce platform, Tax Overview is the fastest place to start. Calculated tax and collected tax are produced differently and can legitimately differ. See Why Does My Calculated Tax Differ from My Collected Tax?

Need the amounts in a spreadsheet?

For anything more than a handful of periods, export rather than clicking row by row. Click Export in the top right of the Filings page and choose Advanced Export to filter by country, jurisdiction, date range, status, and filing category. The report arrives by email as an Excel file, usually within one to two minutes.

If you cannot find the filing you are looking for

What you are seeing

What it usually means

The period is not in Filing History

It may not be finished yet. Check Current Filings for the period that is currently open, or Back Filings for past-due returns that are still waiting on your approval.

You requested a back filing and it is nowhere to be found

Look on the Back Filings tab, not Filing History. A requested return appears there as soon as you submit the request, and only reaches Filing History after you approve it and we submit it. Until then it sits in Unfiled status, and it will stay there indefinitely, because back filings never auto-approve.

The jurisdiction is missing from the dropdown

The dropdowns only show jurisdictions where you hold an active registration. If a registration was closed, reach out before assuming the filing does not exist.

The status says Skipped

Kintsugi did not file that return for that period, by arrangement. Important: any tax due for that period is still due, and responsibility for filing it sits with you.

The status says Cancelled

The return was closed out and will not be submitted. The record is kept so your filing history stays complete.

The status still says Filing

The return is being submitted to the tax authority and is not finished yet. It moves to Filing History once it is Filed.

For a full explanation of every status, see Filing Statuses Explained.

FAQs

Q: How far back does Filing History go?
A: It covers every completed filing recorded in your Kintsugi account. That includes back filings we submitted for past periods and any historical filings brought in when you migrated to Kintsugi.

Q: I requested a back filing. When will it show up here?
A: Once you approve it and we submit it. The return appears on the Back Filings tab in Unfiled status as soon as you submit the request. After you approve, we submit it within 6 to 8 weeks, and it moves to Filing History when it is Filed.

Q: Can I get a copy of the return that was actually submitted?
A: Check the Attachments section of the filing detail sidebar first. If nothing is saved there for the period you need, reach out and we will help you track it down.

Q: Total Liability does not match what left my bank account. Why?
A: Open the filing and compare Tax Overview with Remittance Overview. Total liability is what was owed for the period. Tax remitted is what was actually paid. The two can differ once credits, discounts, adjustments, fees, or penalties are applied. On a back filing, state penalties and interest can also be remitted alongside the tax, which widens the gap further.

Q: A filing shows 0.00. Was anything actually filed?
A: Yes. A zero return is still a return. Most states require one for every period you are registered in, even when there is no tax to remit.

Q: My filing still says "Filing." Will it be submitted on time?
A: Yes. See Will My Return Be Submitted on Time if It Still Shows "Filing"?

Q: Can I still filter by status?
A: Yes. The Filters icon in the top right includes all seven statuses, and status is also available as a filter when you export.
